Who we are
The European Metrology Network (EMN) for Climate and Ocean Observation will support the integration of measurement science with climate and ocean observation research in three environmental themes: atmosphere, ocean, and land & Earth Observation. In each theme, metrologists will connect with those making observations to understand the associated measurement challenges. Working together, the EMN can offer practical support and calibration services, develop and implement quality assurance frameworks, and offer training and resources to ensure that global climate and ocean observations can be used with confidence to support a variety of end applications.
The EMN for Climate and Ocean Observation is one of several EMNs established by EURAMET, the European Association of National Metrology Institutes. The EMNs have been set up to help realise their aim to ensure Europe has a world-leading metrology capability, based on high-quality scientific research and an effective and inclusive infrastructure, that meets the rapidly advancing needs of end users.
The EMN for Climate and Ocean Observation has as members the National Metrology Institutes and associated Designated Institutes in Europe. Other organisations are encouraged to affiliate with the network as network partners.
