EMRP project Metrology for thermal protection materials (SIB52 Thermo) will establish a framework for measurements of thermal conductivity in order to improve industrial measurement techniques up to 800 °C.
SIB52 JRP-Partners will deliver three presentations and submit two papers based on research carried out in the project at the conference. A new approach has been developed in the project, which combines both thermal metrology and material science in the assessment of candidate high temperature thermal conductivity reference materials. The chairman of the CEN Key-mark Scheme has expressed his interest and is willing to disseminate this new method and provisional results to their members including both industrial and reference laboratories.
In the same conference, JRP-Partner NPL will also co-organise with NIST, PTB and NMIJ a ‘Workshop on High-Temperature Measurements of Thermal Transport Properties: A Perspective from Several National Metrology Institutes’. NPL will present ‘Europe Viewpoint – EURAMET Project on Thermal Conductivity Measurement of High-Temperature Insulation’ in the workshop.
