EMRP project Metrology for Chemical Pollutants in Air (ENV01 MACPoll) aims to support the development of EU Air Quality legislation by improving indoor and outdoor air quality measurements. This project will develop methods to provide stable reference samples for calibrating instruments, new measurement methods to detect volatile, highly reactive gases and a reliable, compact nitrogen dioxide microsensor.
During the 18th AQUILA meeting, held in Ispra, Italy, JRP ENV01 was presented to the European Air Quality Reference Laboratories. With the latest developments of the European Air Quality Directives, the importance of the National Air Quality Reference Laboratories has grown significantly as they are legally responsible for the quality assurance of air pollutant measurements in their Member State. AQUILA meetings are partially dedicated to special topics like particles measurement or quality assurance, but also provide the opportunity to update participants on new technical/scientific and legislative developments in the air quality field.
