CLEO/Europe-IQEC 2013

The most advanced optical clocks now exceed the best clocks based on the current definition of the second in terms of reproducibility. EMRP project High-accuracy optical clocks with trapped ions (SIB04 ion clock), aims to improve the precision of optical clocks. The project will do this by preparing a selection of optical clocks with the potential to become primary standards, evaluate their performance and provide frequency measurements for input to a redefinition of the second.

The European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the XIIIth International Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-IQEC) is the largest and most comprehensive gathering of optics and photonics researchers and engineers organised in Europe. The program for the conference will cover all aspects of the fields of quantum electronics, lasers and photonics, including fundamentals, device development, systems, and applications. At the conference, SIB04 JRP-Coordinator will be presenting on the project's ‘Yb+ optical frequency standard.’
