15 Sept 13:00 – 17:00 CEST, 16 Sept 2021 10:00 – 12:30 CEST
The consortium of EMPIR project Metrology for real-world domestic water metering (17IND13, Metrowamet) will present a workshop focussing on the latest developments in water metering. In addition, results from the EMPIR project will be presented.
Like everywhere else, time does not stand still for water meters. Developments and requirements for water meters are always changing, as new technical possibilities come to light and consumption patterns alter. At present, for example, interest is centred around the measurement performance of water meters under real operating conditions - as well as some additional functionalities like leakage detection.
Agenda
Day 1, 15 September (13:00 – 17:00 CEST)
- Welcome/housekeeping, introduction to the workshop and Metrowamet
Theme block 1: Water consumption, assessment of water meter performance for dynamic flows
- Recommendations for the acquisition of consumption profiles of potable water in households including guidelines for the selection of equipment, time scales and sampling rates
- Consumption characteristics in Europe – derivation of representative test profiles -requirements for test rigs
- Experiences in Brazil on water meter assessment and a new Brazilian standard to assess water meter performance based on an actual water consumption profile
- Validation of liquid flow standards under dynamic conditions - Results of the EURAMET project No. 1506
- Performance of domestic water meters under static and dynamic test conditions – first insights
- Discussion
- Break
Theme block 2: Impact of water quality on the performance of cold water meters – development of test regime
- Derivation of requirements for the test regime – development of test waters
- Performance of domestic water meters depending on water quality
- Discussion
Day 2, 16 September (10:00 – 12:30)
Theme block 3: Detection of small flows and leaks
- Hardware platform for detecting small flows with domestic water meters
- Detection of small flows with water meters
- Algorithm(s) for leakage detection
- Discussion
Theme block 4: Emerging needs for action for water metering?
- Developments and need for action regarding water meters from the perspective of water meter manufacturers
- Guides, recommendations for assessing water meters close to operation conditions. Further need(s) (or proposals) for action from the perspective of ISO/OIML/WELMEC.
- Discussion
