On Tuesday 5 May 2020, EMPIR project ‘MetroHyVe’ will be running an international online workshop on the topic of hydrogen flow metering.
The project ‘MetroHyVe’ (16ENG01) has been working to develop new metrology for hydrogen fuel – a promising alternative, low-carbon fuel for future energy and transport applications. While the establishment of a European infrastructure for hydrogen-powered vehicles is on-going, it has presented measurement challenges to key industry stakeholders. Working towards solving these challenges, the project consortium has focused their efforts on the development of new measurement methods, standards and calibration facilities, to improve the accuracy of flow metering and ensure the fair pricing of fuel for customers at refuelling stations – ultimately, increasing consumer and manufacturer confidence in hydrogen as a viable, greener fuel for transport.
Through the online workshop, the project consortium aims to showcase results from their first work package (WP1: Flow Metering), and to introduce hydrogen refuelling station operators to the problems and project-derived solutions for hydrogen flow metering.
Test results to be presented at the workshop include those from alternative methods using substitute substances to hydrogen, from the high pressure dependence of Coriolis meters, and from field-testing gravimetric standards.
The workshop will take place online via skype for business, from 10:00 to 13:00 CEST, after which there will be time for questions and an open discussion.
