Results from two EMRP Environment projects were presented at the 9th International Temperature Symposium in Los Angeles, USA. This conference is held every 10 years to highlight advances in temperature measurement including: new measurement technologies; new and established temperature measurement applications; calibration methods; thermophysical modelling; sensor installation design; fixed points; temperature scales and metrology.
The two EMRP projects presented were:
- European metrology for earth observation and climate (ENV04), which aims to develop new standards and validate sensors used in satellites.
- Metrology for pressure, temperature, humidity and airspeed in the atmosphere (ENV07), which aims to improve measurements that feed into climate models. This will contribute to both metrological and meteorological research, leading to better interpretations of climate data.
