The Fringe Workshop Series is a forum for engineers, scientists and industrial experts in the field of Optical Imaging and Metrology. The workshop will include presentations and discussions about Imaging, Interferometry, Surface Monitoring, Stress Analysis, Non-Destructive Testing, Quality Control, and related fields. The following EMRP projects will be presented at the conference:
- Optical and tactile metrology for absolute form characterization (IND10 Form) will improve the metrology for smooth optical surfaces ranging from flatness references to aspheres.
- Metrology of small structures for the manufacturing of electronic and optical devices (IND17 Scatterometry) will provide a reference standard to add traceability to scatterometric measurements and make them comparable to microscopic methods.
- Realisation of the awaited definition of the kilogram - resolving the discrepancies (SIB03 kNOW) will improve the determination of the Avogadro constant based among other measurements on volume determination of silicon single crystal spherical standards by precision interferometry.
- Metrology of electro-thermal coupling for new functional materials technology (NEW09 METCO) will develop metrology techniques for characterization of the functional properties of new materials and electro-thermal-mechanical coupling behaviour over extended temperature ranges by precision interferometry and improved simulations.
