INRIM, Torino, Italy (online access available if requested)
18, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 May and 1 June 2023, 09:00 – 12:00 CET on all dates
This training course on magnetism, magnetic materials and measurements is organised within the PhD course in Metrology of INRIM-POLITO.
Members of the consortium of EMPIR project Metrology of magnetic losses in electrical steel sheets for high-efficiency energy conversion (19ENG06, HEFMAG) will be involved in running the course.
The course will provide the basis to understand the metrological aspects of magnetism, the physics of modern magnetic materials, and the associated measurement techniques.
It will give an introduction to the following key topics
- basic concepts in magnetism
- quantum origin of ferromagnetism
- theories of magnetisation process
- materials for technological applications
- experimental techniques
The course will be held in English language at INRIM, Strada delle Cacce 91, and online via the platform provided by the Politecnico di Torino (virtual classroom). At the end of the course it is possible to participate in a lab visit at INRIM.
