EMRP project Metrology for Radioactive Waste Management (ENV09 MetroRWM) will develop novel methods, standards, decay data, reference materials and instruments for improved radioactive waste measurements and to assist with the successful decommisioning of nuclear power plants.
The project is holding a one day workshop in Paris on 13 March 2013 to update stakeholders and end users on progress made in research into:
- standardised traceable gamma assay methods for 'free release' measurement of solid materials and objects from nuclear facilities
- in situ radiochemical analysis methods
- measurement methods for radioactive gases and vapours present in radioactive waste repositories and facilities
- development of reference materials and standard sources for the calibration of measurement devices
- improved half-life data for long-lived raionuclides resent in wastes.
