EMRP project European metrology for earth observation and climate (ENV04 MetEOC) was presented at The Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) Working Group on Calibration and Validation (WGCV) subgroup on Infrared and Visible Optical Systems (IVOS) meeting in Sioux Falls USA, from 8-10 May. The CEOS WGCV IVOS meeting was hosted under the auspices of the U. S. Geological Survey Earth Resources Observation and Science Center in partnership with the South Dakota State University and the meeting objectives included a discussion of the IVOS work plan, finalisation of the CEOS reference standard test sites and development of recommendations to the CEOS WGCV.
The Chair of IVOS is the JRP-Coordinator for project ENV04. Space-based global observations of the Earth’s atmosphere, oceans and land are vital for climate change studies and the implementation of mitigation measures and project ENV04 will develop new standards and will validate sensors used in satellites so that accurate and comparable laboratory-quality measurements of climate parameters can be made from space.
