1 – 5 July 2024, Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), Berlin, Germany
This training course is organised by the European Partnership for Radiation Protection Research (PIANOFORTE).
Aims
Internal monitoring after radiological emergencies requires specific organisational procedures and metrological methods compared with its application for occupational exposures. These include:
- measurements of a large number of people must be organised, and their possible external contamination must be taken into account
- higher activities in the human body or in the excreta must be expected
- there is likely to be a high level of anxiety associated with the emergency
The course will present all topics that professionals with some existing knowledge about internal monitoring or emergency response need in order to organise and/or conduct such measurements themselves.
Course participants
This training course will be of interest to PhD students as well as early-career researchers and other professionals who work in one of the following fields:
- monitoring of internal exposures (direct measurements or measurements of biological samples)
- response to radiological emergencies
The course is planned for 15 to 20 participants. Application is open to persons from member states of the European Union and its associated countries. A small number of places can be assigned to applicants from other regions. A sufficient command of English is required (at least B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
