Two workshops on grid metrology for efficient electricity grids

Wednesday, 16 June 2021, 08:30 – 12:45 CEST &
Thursday, 17 June 2021, 13:00 – 17:00 CEST

Two related EMPIR projects, which have closely collaborated during their lifetimes, will be holding workshops to present the key final results from the two three-year projects.

Workshop on 16 June

This workshop will present the final results from EMPIR project Metrology for the next-generation digital substation instrumentation (17IND06, FutureGrid II).

Topics covered will include:

  • Traceable test systems for digital instrument transformers
  • Digital technology for substations including stand-alone merging units
  • Metering, phasor measurement unit applications with sampled-values-based communications
  • Impact of the project – preparing new instrument transformer standards in IEC TC38

Workshop on 17 June

EMPIR project Loss Measurements on Power Transformers and Reactors (17NRM01, Trafoloss) will present the final results from the three-year project at this workshop.

Topics covered will include:

  • New high-accuracy voltage channels for industrial power transformer loss measurement setups (TLMS),
  • Guidelines for calibration of TLMS, and
  • New reference setups for on-site TLMS calibration
  • Impact of the project – stakeholder uptake and input to standardisation
