Workshop on Humidity in Energy Gases

EMRP project Characterisation of Energy Gases (ENG01 Gas) aims to enable alternative and renewable gaseous fuels to be used in the European gas pipeline system. The project will test the suitability of current standards of measurement for natural gas for measuring the properties of alternative gases, such as biogas. Important measurements include gas composition, calorific value (energy content) and humidity, which are all needed to ensure efficient trade, safe use and transportation.

A workshop for the project on Humidity in Energy Gases was hosted by JRP-Partner TUBITAK in Istanbul, Turkey. The workshop provided stakeholders with an introduction to the JRP ENG01 as well as presentations on ‘Moisture measurement in natural gas – a critical measurement’, a ‘Test facility for characterisation of humidity sensors’, a ‘Hybrid gas mixture generator’, ‘Impedance sensor applications in the natural gas industry’ and ‘Development of a low-cost instrument for the measurement of microwave resonances’.
