26 to 28 October 2021, 11:00 – 13:00 CEST each day
EMPIR project Climate Reference Station (19SIP03, CRS) is developing ‘reference stations’ to determine the extent of environmental bias in climate monitoring data.
Specifically, the consortium is building a setup with instruments and equipment from a variety of manufacturers and operating it in the field for at least one year. This will allow the effects of environmental parameters like rain, heat and constant use on instrumentation to be determined. These results will be supplied to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the Global Climate Observing System to support the development of future, reference-grade, ground-based stations.
The upcoming workshop will include a presentation of these project results. The workshop will also cover discussions about environmental measurement uncertainties, such as those associated with climate references and the cryosphere.
Who should attend
An international audience is expected, including climatologists, meteorologists and the WMO.
