International GAS Analysis Conference recognises the high quality of EURAMET project research

GAS Analysis is the leading international symposium and exhibition for gas analysis manufacturers, technical staff and end-users.

It has become a tradition that at the GAS Analysis events awards are presented for the best lecture and best poster. At the event in June 2017, the delegates voted for the best lecture by rating all lectures they attended, and they also selected their favourite poster.

The best lecture was awarded to Hugo Ent from VSL with his lecture entitled “A novel gravimetric primary mercury vapour standard”. The audience rated his lecture 4.75 on a scale from 1 to 5. The lecture described a mercury vapour generator developed to enable traceability of mercury vapour measurement results, for ambient air levels as well as higher concentrations. This work is part of the three year EMRP joint research project Traceability for mercury measurements  (ENV51 MeTra) which ended in 2017.

The best poster was awarded to Annarita Baldan, also from VSL, for her poster entitled “Development of oxygenated VOC gas standards to underpin atmospheric monitoring”. The poster presented the results of the EMRP joint research project Metrology for VOC indicators in air pollution and climate change (ENV56 KEY-VOCs) which addressed key volatile organic compounds. The project, which also ended in 2017, aimed to contribute to the studies in atmospheric chemistry to assess trends and ultimately to understand climate changes.
