Supplementary comparison on thermal diffusivity measurements of high conductive materials by the laser flash method

Project Description

The objective of this inter-laboratory comparison is to establish the degree of equivalence among the NMIs in Europe on thermal diffusivity measurements of high conductive materials from 23 °C up to 1400 °C using the laser flash method.

Progress Report 2024-04-02

The protocol of this supplementary comparison on thermal diffusivity measurements was reviewed and accepted mid-July 2023 by EURAMET TC-T, and it was registered in the KCDB under identifier EURAMET.T-S8 in September 2023.
The pilot prepared the specimens from 3 blocks of material (2 metallic materials and 1 graphite) and carried out thermal diffusivity measurements at 23 °C on all specimens in order to check the homogeneity for each material.

Three sets of specimens (one per material) were sent to the 5 participants in March 2024 and the measurements have then started.

In June 2023, before the validation of the comparison protocol by the TC-T, UME (Turkiye) is no longer participant in this project. PTB (Germany) is now involved in this project.
