Key comparison of National Pressure Standards in the Range 1 Pa to 15 kPa of Absolute and Gauge Pressure

Project Description

Recently, in the range 1 Pa to 15 kPa new KC CCM.P-K4.2012 was performed, and also new pressure standards were established at some NMIs, demanding their equivalence to be demonstrated. This new EURAMET KC should check the equivalence of the new standards. CMI, which participated in CCM.P-K4.2012, will provide a link to CCM.P-K4.2012 for absolute pressure and to former EURAMET.M.P-K4.2010 KC for gauge pressure. CMI's Force-Balanced Piston gauge (FPG) will serve as a transfer standard. However, it will not travel. Instead, each participant will bring its standard to CMI. Alternatively, laboratories whose standards are not movable will make a comparison with the CMI FPG using a suitable travelling standard. Measurements will be done at nominal pressures of 1 (optional), 3, 10, 30, 100, 300, 1000, 3000, 10000, 15000 Pa.

Progress Report 2023-03-03

The comparison is performed by comparing the standards of PTB, IMT, RISE and UME directly with the standard of CMI. For this, the 4 participants travel with their standards to CMI. PTB and IMT have performed their measurements at CMI. Since February 2020, the KC has been pausing because of the Covid pandemic, making travelling impossible. The KC was resumed in October 2021 by measurements of UME at CMI, and last measurements of RISE at CMI took place in April 2022. All participants' reports became available in September 2022. Evaluation of the KC and preparation of a draft A report are in progress.
