On-site peer review of MIKES-Aalto

Project Description

Aalto University, Metrology Research Institute (Aalto) is a designated institute for photometry and radiometry in Finland. In this project, the QMS of Aalto will be peer-reviewed. The peer review on spectrophotometry services will be carried out by an expert from NIST (USA). The expert manages and conducts reflectance calibrations for stakeholders in government, industry, and academia and carries out research on reflectance and scattering of optical materials. The on-site visit is scheduled for the beginning of November 2022.

The review will include relevant requirements for the competence stated in ISO/IEC 17025 and the spectrophotometry services included in CMCs of the institute.
This project will support the evaluation and improvement of the institute´s QMS.

Final Report 2023-03-16

In this project, the QMS of Aalto was peer-reviewed. The peer review visit was carried out by the expert from NIST (USA) on 9-10 November 2022. The peer review was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025, and it included all institute's CMCs of spectrophotometry except Spectral Responsivity.
The peer review also included an in-person visit to the spectrophotometry laboratories at Aalto. The findings of the peer review were recorded in a separate report. This project supported well the improvement of the institute's QMS, and it will also support the re-evaluation of the institute´s QMS.
