Periodic peer review of QMS and measurement capabilities of LATMB

The rules of CIPM MRA obligate the NMIs to operate a Quality Management System (QMS) in conformity with the requirements of the standard ISO/IEC 17025 to support their calibration activities. In this project the QMS of LATMB (Latvia) will be peer-reviewed, particularly in that the QMS of LATMB is a self-declared system.

The peer review will be carried out by an on-site visit of the metrology experts from Metrosert (Estonia) in the fields of Mass, Length (Dimensional) and Electrical measurements. The review will include relevant requirements for the competence stated in the standard ISO/IEC 17025 and the metrological services in Mass, Length (Dimensional) and Electrical measurements covered by CMCs (or revised CMCs to be submitted) of the institute published on the BIPM KCDB.

This project will support the development, improvement and evaluation of the QMS processes and procedures.

In this project, the QMS of the LATMB was peer-reviewed, particularly in that the QMS of LATMB is a self-declared system.

The peer review was carried out on-site by the metrology experts from Metrosert in the fields of Mass, Length (Dimensional) and Electrical measurements and assessor for QMS. The review included relevant requirements for the competence stated in the standard ISO/IEC 17025 and the metrological services in Mass, Length (Dimensional) and Electrical measurements covered by CMCs of the LATMB published on the BIPM KCDB.

During the peer review 6 (six) non-conformities were found (1 in QMS, 1 in Mass and 4 in the area of Electrical measurements). The planned corrective actions were agreed with peer reviewers.

The most of non-conformities have been solved. Only a solving of one non-conformity (regarding participation in ILC) is taking longer time and is currently ongoing (planned deadline – 31.12.2024).

The QMS of the LATMB was found adequate.

This project had supported the development, improvement and evaluation of the QMS processes and functions of the LATMB.
