Comparison measurement in the pressure range 1 to 5 MPa
Project Description
The laboratories of FFA and MIKE, both traceable to LNE, recently suggested pressure comparison measurements with the pressure laboratory of the PTB using an oil-lubricated gas-operated D&H piston/cylinder assembly Kn = 0.1 MPA/kg, which is a property of MIKE. Since the PTB disposes of p/c assemblies of the same type which were calibrated using the high-pressure mercury manometer of the PTB, and since suitable twin pressure balances for the intercomparison of pairs of such p/c assemblies are available, the PTB would be prepared to act as the pilot laboratory and to coordinate the comparison measurements. Two aspects of the proposed comparison measurement are of particular interest:
1. The LNE and the PTB use different methods to characterize their primary standard pressure balances for the range of measurement concerned and
2. comparions of the transfer p/c assembly at the PTB with different PTB assemblies of the same type and mutual interchange of the assemblies can contribute to a better knowledge of the influence, that mounting effects may have on the calibration of these assemblies.
