Comparison of luminance meters
Project Description
The aim of this project is to carry out a comparison of the calibration of luminance and illuminance meters as carried out by NMIs and accredited calibration laboratories across Europe. This will be achieved by the circulation of high quality commercial luminance and illuminance meters; the project will include an evaluation of a selection of commercial meters. Measurements are made with luminance and illuminance meters in all European countries for trade and to measure lighting levels for health and safety, for photography, for television and to meet regulations and codes of practice. There has never been a comparison of European calibration services for luminance and illuminance meters. It is timely for such a comparison, both to ensure equivalence of such. calibrations across Europe, and because it will complement CCPR and EUROMET key comparisons of luminous responsivity, intensity and flux standards.
There has been no progress on this planned comparison during the past year.
Note: CMI (CZ), NMi (NL) and SZMDM (YU) joined during the EUROMET PHORA meeting in April 2003.

Final Report
This project is concluded. According to the CCPR guide for supporting evidence, luminance responsivity is covered by the key comparison K3.
