EURAMET.T-K9 Regional key comparison: ITS-90 SPRT Calibration from the Ar TP to the Zn FP
Project Description
Objective: This comparison is designed to compare the realisation of the ITS-90 through the calibration of SPRTs. The range of temperature covered in this comparison is from the triple point of Ar (83.8058 K) to the freezing point of Zn (692.677 K). The transfer standards used will be longstem SPRTs. It follows the corresponding CCT-K9 key comparison.
Branch 1 TEMPERATURE
Service 1. Temperature - Items used for defining ITS-90
Subservice 1.3 Standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRTs)
Final Report 2024-10-14
The comparison has been completed and results are available in the KCDB.
Progress Report 2022-05-23
Draft A report has been sent to the participants on May 23, 2022

The comparison is organised in five separate collapsed stars.
In 2020, all data are available on a repository created on the EURAMET sharepoint, accessible to the five pilots. Pre-Draft A calculations have been realised by the coordinator and presented at the 2020 TC-T meeting. Draft A is expected to be available to star pilots at the end of 2020 and to all the participants by February 2021.
Conny (C.K.) de Bruin-Barendregt is the new contact person at VSL.
Progress Report 2019-04-11
The comparison is organised in five separate collapsed stars.
At the beginning of 2019, all the measurements have been completed and all data has been communicated to the star pilots. A repository has been created on the EURAMET sharepoint, to store data collected in each star. It is accessible to the five pilots and will facilitate the preparation of Draft A.
Pilots will discuss in the 2019 TC-T meeting to plan the follow-up of the comparison, notably the writing of the Draft A.
Progress Report 2018-03-30
The comparison is organised in five separate collapsed stars, where measurements are performed in three main steps. First, the participants of each loop perform preliminary measurements in their laboratories. Then they transfer their thermometers to the pilot laboratory, where thermometers are measured in the pilot's facilities. Finally, participants recover their thermometers and calibrate them again after return in their laboratory. Participants communicate to their loop pilot calibration results obtained in measurements performed preliminarily and after return.
At the beginning of 2018, the three main steps are not finished in all the stars.
In three stars, all the measurements have been completed and all data has been communicated to the star pilot. In another star, all the measurements are finished but one laboratory has not communicated measurement results to the star pilot yet. Finally, in one star, preliminary and pilot measurements have been completed, but three laboratories have to complete return measurements.
The coordinator changed after the retirement of the former coordinator (Yves Hermier) at the end of 2017.
Pilots will discuss in the 2018 TC-T meeting to plan the follow-up of the comparison, notably the writing of the Draft A.
Progress Report 2017-03-29
The protocol was approved by CCT, in February, 18, 2015
The participants have calibrated their transfert standards and have sent them to the pilot laboratories, in September 2015 where the calibrations were all done, in September, 2016.
All the thermometers have been sent back to the participants for calibration, in the last phase.
A checkpoint will be formalised during the Tc-T meeting in April 2017, to decide on a timetable to write Draft A.
Progress Report 2016-05-02
The protocol was approved by CCT on February 18, 2015
Most participants have calibrated their transfer standards and have sent them to the pilot laboratories in September 2015 where the calibrations are on the way to be done.
A checkpoint will be formalised during the TC-T meeting in February 2016.
