Hydrostatic weighing – exchange of experiences

Project Description

Both laboratories intend to use a new hydrostatic weighing apparatus for liquid density determination with the highest accuracy, exchange information about the apparatus and the procedure are necessary for harmonizing the measures by two laboratories.

The project will be focused on:

• Characterization of the instruments used in the apparatus
• Development of a comparison methods
• Estimation of uncertainty
• Maintenance and stability
   

The project is starting in 2005.

Hydrostatic density determinations for liquids are mainly performed by laboratories to provide traceability to liquid density measuring instruments such as oscillation-type density meters and hydrometer calibrations.
