Intercomparison to validate calibration methods for hydrophones in the frequency range 10 kHz - 315 kHz
Project Description
The project is to undertake a European intercomparison of free-field hydrophone calibrations in the frequency range 10-315 kHz.The exercice is to be organise as two round-robin intercomparisons with two separate sets of three hydrophones used (Set A and Set B), and with the NPL the coordinating laboratory calibrating both sets and a third set kept as a control. Each set would contain a Brüel and Kjaer 8104, Brüel and Kjaer 8103 and a Reson TC4034 hydrophone. The participants would be asked to undertake a free-field calibration of the hydrophones at third-octave frequencies in the frequency range 10-315 kHz by a method of their choice. The method employed are expected to be either calibration by three-transducer spherical-wave reciprocity or by comparison with a calibrated reference hydrophone. Two participants are expected to use open-water facilities, but most participants would use laboratory tank facilities.
Project supported by the European Committees. EC contact MAST-CT94-0095 was supported under the Marine science and Technology Programme and adminitered under Standards, Measurement and Testing Programme.
