Key comparison of stainless steel multiples and sub-multiples of the kilogram
Project Description
Comparison on mass standards: 5 kg, 100 g, 10 g, 5 g, 500 mg
The comparison will be undertaken within the EURAMET RMO and, to underpin the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), will be linked to the Consultative Committee for Mass comparison CCM.M-K7.
Linking laboratories will be CEM, INRIM, METAS and PTB. The main objectives of the comparison are to validate the calibration measurement capabilities (CMC's) of the participants and to provide a basis for the submission and review of updated or new CMC's.
Progress Report 2024-01-17
The fourth leg of the comparison is in progress. There are 8 participants, including the pilot, in the fourth leg of the comparison. 5 participants completed the calibration of TS, 3 are remaining. There has been custom problems between MBM (Montenegro) and SMD (Belgium). This is why, TS has been transferred to IPQ (Portuguese), instead. The order for receiving the TS in the fourth leg is IPQ-SMD-CMI-TUBITAK UME. There will be an additional leg for the participation of AZMI (Azerbaijan) including only AZMI and TUBITAK UME. However, the timeline will not be affected, as Draft A period will begin when the fifth leg is running.
Progress Report 2023-09-04
The fourth leg of the comparison is in progress. There are 8 participants, including the pilot in the fourth leg of the comparison. 4 participants completed the calibration of TS, 4 are remaining. AZMI (Azerbaijan) showed their interest to participate. There will be an additional leg for their participation, including only AZMI and TUBITAK UME. However, the timeline will not be affected, as Draft A period will begin when the fifth leg is running. There was a mistake in the technical protocol where Mieke Coenegrachts was listed as the contact person for BEMEKO (Belgium). It is now corrected as SMD (Belgium).
Progress Report 2022-05-12
The second leg of the comparison is in progress, where the interim measurements are conducted by the pilot lab.
The third and fourth stages of the comparison each involve 6 participants, including the pilot laboratory. Therefore,12 more months are needed for the circulation of the travelling standards.
