Supplementary comparison on gauge block calibration by mechanical comparison

Project Description

The purpose of this supplementary comparison on gauge block calibration by mechanical comparison is to support new and existing CMC claims for this method. The measurands are ISO 3650:1998 grade K gauge blocks, that are made of steel and have following nominal values: 0.5 mm, 4 mm, 10 mm, 25 mm, 50 mm,100 mm.

In this comparison for each gauge block, deviation of central length from the nominal value and variation in length is to be measured, and the calibration uncertainty is to be evaluated.
For this comparison NPL is acting as a co-pilot.

Progress Report 2024-01-10

The coordination of this project has been taken over by Allar Pärn from Armin Ansip.

Progress Report 2023-10-03

On 17 July 2023 the measurements have been started. The measurements were done by Metrosert and BEV.

NSAI NML had measurements planned, but due to environmental control system malfunction, they will be scheduled on 12 August to 8 September 2024.

Standards are in transit to BIM.
